Am 5. und 6. Mai 2024 fand die Vollversammlung der Konferenz der Kirchen am Rhein statt. Eingeladen hatte die Evangelisch-reformierte Kirche des Kantons St. Gallen, die sich als hervorragende Gastgeberin erwies. Neben einem geschäftlichen Teil und den Berichten aus den Mitgliedskirchen, besichtigten die Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmer die berühmte Sankt-Galler Stiftsbibliothek.
In seiner Morgenandacht in der Kirche St. Laurenzen erinnerte Kirchenrat Heinz Fäh mit Verweis auf die lokale Kirchengeschichte, dass manche gute Entwicklung sehr viel Zeit in Anspruch nimmt. Im Anschluss stellte Regierungsrätin Dr. Laura Bucher das Verhältnis von Kirche und Staat im Kanton St. Gallen dar und Kirchenpräsident Martin Schmitt präsentierte den Visionsprozess St. Galler Kirche 2025 unter dem Titel „Nahe bei Gott – nahe bei den Menschen“.
Die Vollversammlung der KKR wurde zum letzten Mal von Christian Albecker, Präsident der Union der evangelischen Kirchen von Elsass und Lothringen, geleitet. Die Delegierten verabschiedeten ihn in einer abendlichen Feierstunde und brachten ihm Weine aus den verschiedenen Anbaugebieten entlang des Rheins als Geschenk.
Die Konferenz der Kirchen am Rhein besteht seit 1961 und ist heute eine Regionalgruppe der GEKE.

The Assembly of the Conference of Churches on the Rhine took place on 5 and 6 May 2024. The event was organised by the Reformed Church of the Canton of St. Gallen, which proved to be an excellent host. In addition to business sessions and reports from the member churches, the participants visited the famous St. Gallen Abbey Library.
In his morning devotion in the church of St Laurenzen, Church Councillor Heinz Fäh referred to local church history and reminded the audience that good developments may take a long time. Afterwards, Government Councillor Dr Laura Bucher presented the relationship between church and state in the canton of St. Gallen and Church President Martin Schmitt presented the St. Gallen Church 2025 vision process entitled “Close to God – close to the people”.
The General Assembly of the CCR was chaired for the last time by Christian Albecker, President of the Union of Protestant Churches of Alsace and Lorraine. The delegates bid him farewell in an evening ceremony and presented him with a gift of wines from the various wine-growing regions along the Rhine.
The Conference of Churches on the Rhine has existed since 1961 and is now a regional group of the CPCE.
