A new reference group of young theologians started its common journey in September in Prague. This group of 27 young people shall work together for the coming five years to get to know the CPCE in all its diversity and to bring a young perspective into the various study and work processes.
The first study conference was held at the Protestant Theological Faculty in Prague, where the group was welcomed by its dean, Jan Roskovec as well as Jana Hofmanová, proxy member of the Council of the CPCE. “‘It took only a few hours for a trusting atmosphere to develop, in which the participants enjoyed discussing things together and learning from each other,’ recalls Oliver Engelhardt, thinking back to the start of the conference.
The young participants learned and discussed basic texts of the church communion and also its current strategy document Being Church Together in the Light of Hope. One evening with the Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren, a guided tour in the historical city center as well as Sunday services in congregations of various Czech denominations acquainted them with the Czech reformation and todays ecclesial landscape. The further programme touched ethical decision making and the theology of diaspora.
The young theologians come from 25 different protestant churches from 11 countries.
