Young theologians reflect on Protestantism and participation. Under the title \u201eTaking Responsibility – Giving Hope – Being Visible\u201c a conference took place in Sibiu.
\n<\/em><\/p>\n

The Protestant League of Hesse, the Communion of Protestant Churches in Europe and the Centre for Protestant Theology in Eastern Europe (ZETO) had already offered a digital academy from November 2022 under the title \u201cProtestantism and Participation\u201d. Volkmar Ortmann, board member at the Protestant League of Hesse, says: \u201e<\/em>Participation is part of the DNA of Protestantism\u201c<\/em>. The seven digital lectures then illuminated various parts of the topic such as responsibility for creation, the diaconal commitment of the church, peace ethics and also the CPCE\u2019s \u201cTheology of Diaspora\u201d with its view of public theology was addressed. Twelve young theologians from various churches in Europe finally met in Sibiu in Transylvania from 12 to 15 April 2023. Under the title \u201e<\/em>Taking Responsibility – Giving Hope – Being Visible\u201c<\/em>, the participants discussed the role and task of churches in today’s Europe. The keynote speech was given by Dr Christine Schliesser, who emphasised public theology and referred to Dietrich Bonhoeffer.<\/p>\n

It was important to the young participants that the public impact of the church must be based on a solid foundation and that educational work and participation are therefore also of great importance within the churches. The results of the conference include a series of theses, liturgical building blocks with participatory elements and reflections on educational work in church congregations.<\/p>\n

All participants praised the good atmosphere of the conference: \u201e<\/em>It was always a discussion at eye level\u201c<\/em> said Andr\u00e9 Stephany, a participant from Switzerland, who at the same time emphasised \u201e<\/em>This conference has been another eye-opener for me how diverse and interesting the wider protestant family really is\u201c<\/em>. By the way, the young theologians got to know the locations of the coming CPCE General Assembly in Sibiu.<\/p>\n

Junge Theologie in Europa auf dem Weg nach Hermannstadt<\/h4>\n

Junge Theologinnen und Theologen denken \u00fcber Protestantismus und Partizipation nach. Unter dem Titel \u201e<\/em>Verantwortung \u00fcbernehmen \u2013 Hoffnung geben \u2013 Sichtbar sein\u201c<\/em> fand eine Tagung in Hermannstadt (Sibiu) statt.<\/p>\n

Der Evangelische Bund Hessen, die Gemeinschaft Evangelischer Kirchen in Europa und das Zentrum Evangelische Theologie Ost (ZETO) hatten bereits ab November 2022 online eine Vorlesungsreihe unter dem Titel \u201eProtestantismus und Partizipation\u201c angeboten. Volkmar Ortmann, Vorstandsmitglied beim EB Hessen, sagt: \u201ePartizipation geh\u00f6rt zur DNA des Protestantismus\u201c. Die sieben digitalen Vorlesungen beleuchteten dann verschiedene Facetten des Themas wie Sch\u00f6pfungsverantwortung, das diakonische Engagement von Kirche, Friedensethik und auch die \u201eTheologie der Diaspora\u201c der GEKE mit ihrem Blick auf \u00f6ffentliche Theologie wurde thematisiert. Zw\u00f6lf junge Theologinnen und Theologen aus verschiedenen Kirchen in Europa trafen sich schlie\u00dflich vom 12. bis 15. April 2023 im siebenb\u00fcrgischen Hermannstadt. Unter dem Titel \u201eVerantwortung \u00fcbernehmen \u2013 Hoffnung geben \u2013 Sichtbar sein\u201c<\/em> diskutierten die Teilnehmenden die Rolle und Aufgabe von Kirchen im heutigen Europe. Den Impulsvortrag hielt Dr. Christine Schliesser, die dabei insbesondere die \u00f6ffentliche Theologie stark machte und auf Dietrich Bonhoeffer hinwies.<\/p>\n

Den jungen Teilnehmenden war wichtig, dass sich \u00f6ffentliche Wirkung von Kirche auf ein festes Fundament st\u00fctzen muss und damit auch innerhalb der Kirchen Bildungsarbeit und Partizipation von gro\u00dfer Bedeutung sind. Ergebnisse der Konferenz sind u.a. eine Thesenreihe, liturgische Bausteine mit partizipativen Elementen sowie \u00dcberlegungen zu Bildungsarbeit in Kirchengemeinden.<\/p>\n

Alle Teilnehmenden lobten die gute Atmosph\u00e4re der Tagung: \u201eEs war immer eine Diskussion auf Augenh\u00f6he\u201c sagte Andr\u00e9 Stephany, ein Teilnehmer aus der Schweiz, der zugleich betonte \u201eDiese Konferenz hat mir wieder die Augen daf\u00fcr ge\u00f6ffnet, wie divers und interessant die weitere protestantische Familie ist\u201c<\/em>. Ganz nebenbei haben die jungen Theologinnen und Theologen den Ort der kommenden GEKE-Vollversammlung kennengelernt.<\/p>\n
