The CPCE is a worshipping community. For it to be such a community, it needs to grapple with the theological foundations of church fellowship. This critical discussion takes place in doctrinal discussion groups which since the foundation of the Church Fellowship have been concerned with the core theological statements of the Agreement.

The current topics of doctrinal discussions are:

• The Protestant Understanding of Ministry, Ordination and Episkopé
• Scripture – Confession – Church

Other study groups are working on the issues of

• New Social Challenges for the Protestant Churches

• „Ecclesia semper reformanda“
